Visit some of Catalonia's most important romanesque heritage

On the Romanesque Architecture Tour you will experience some of Catalonia's most important romanesque monuments. North of Barcelona you will see three citites and three monuments: the stunning portal of the Santa María Basicila in Ripoll, the monastery in sant joan de les abadeses and the fortified city of Cardona with the famous Sant Vicenç de Cardona church, to the north west. At the same time you will enjoy some charming cities and a local meal in a cozy restaurant.

Ripoll

The church is foremost famous for it impressive romanesque portal - the most important sculptural work from the romanesque period to be seen in Catalonia. The portal tells the story about Moses but blends it with local myth and motives.

Sant Joan

Sant Joan de les Abadeses

We visit. The church was originally founded in 887 by Wilfred the Hairy, the founder of Catalonia. Also, you will be able to see the famous sculptur group, la desención (see photo below).

Cardona

Cardona is a charming village built around a fortified hill. In cardona you will be able to see several monuments: the castle, the Sant Maguel church and the Sant Vicenç de Cardona. The last building is pure romanesque in style.

At the end of the tour you will be dropped off at your hotel or another place in Barcelona.
