The mobile world congress in Barcelona is one of the most important congresses held in the Catalan City. In 2012 the dates for the Mobile World Congress is from February 27th to March 1st.

The most important mobile congress in Europe

The congress is the most important in Europe. The director of GSMA John Hoffman, explained that all four cities had great and innovative offers, but that Barcelona in the end showed that it deserves to hold the congress because of “its exceptional combination of congress installation, its transport system, hotel infrastructure and its compromise to better these aspects”. For Hoffman, the support showed by the public and private sector was also important.

The city of Barcelona will hold the congress until 2018

Barcelona, that has been holding the Mobile World Congress since 2006, will hold the congress at least until 2018. This was decided in July 2011, where Barcelona competed with three other cities (Paris, Munich and Milan) to get to hold the important congress, and Barcelona was finally chosen to continue holding the congress by the organizer GSMA.

Facts about the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

Barcelonas has held the Mobile World Congress since 2006 and it has been confirmed that Barcelona will continue holding the congress until at least 2018.

It is expected that there will be around 60.000 participating in the congress, hereamong 2.800 director and company advisors from multinational companies.
